Today we went to a test, but not just any test: a Covid-19 test. It took about 1 1/2 hours waiting in line in our car so we wouldn't get close to other people. We had to go because my sisters got to Marist College. They had lots of people who had Covid-19 there, and they want to test everyone before they open their school again, because otherwise they might get another sick school. They want to keep everyone safe.
When we did get into the testing place, my sisters and parents got tested. The nurse got a long stick and stuck it up their noses for 10 seconds. It goes all the way to the back of your nose, up near your brain. The nurse told us it feels a bit like getting water up your nose, but only for ten seconds. If you're positive then you'll get your test answers back in 24 hours but if you're not then they will take a bit longer. All my family were negative so that's good.
After the test we went to McDonald's drive-through because it was a reward for getting tested and also it was the first time we had been out together in our car for nearly seven weeks! (;

A long post this one - nicely written too :)
ReplyDeleteI like that you've included a link to the covid19 website too! A very informative post, thanks!
Thank you Zac for sharing what it is like to get tested for Covid-19! It sounds like a scary thing until you go through it yourself and then you find out it's not so bad! Now that you have shared the process with us, I know a lot of people who read your post won't be so worried if they have to get tested. It only takes 10 seconds or so, phew. And I am glad that your family is well and had Mcdonalds as a reward. Well deserved I say!
ReplyDeleteIt was really interesting to read your story about this, Zac. I'm glad you wrote about it so we can remember what it was like lots of years from now - and can read again about when we went on a "fun" family outing together during lockdown! What do you think you will remember about lockdown, when you're older?
ReplyDeleteGreat post Zac... And very informative. It sounds like a stand out experience from the lockdown that you will all remember.I'm glad there was a reward!

Hello Zac, I was very interesting to read about how you got tested! My family have not been tested yet but the idea of a stick going into your brain sounds gross.
